Networking Among Japanese Exhibits at
Art brings us together across the boundaries of language and culture. Network with your JASK friends. Make new friends and business contacts in the midst of some of the finest art on display in Kentucky.
Two special features connect us to Japan at the Art Museum.
"Splendid Silk" is a once-in-a-lifetime exhibit, being shown for the first time outside of Japan. The Art Museum's main gallery is donned with some of the most intricate, and sometimes ancient, works of silk embroidery you may ever see. Experience the finest works of this painstaking Japanese art form. Try your hand at embroidery at a preset display.
Marjorie Guyon is an artist whose creativity blooms in Lexington, though most of her work is sold in New York and Los Angeles. Ms. Guyon's heart, however, has reached out to the Japanese in Miyagi, whose lives were ended or tragically disrupted by the tsunami of March 11. In April of 2011, she painted "Miyagi", and has donated the right to reprint her work to the Japan/Kentucky Relief Fund. Ms. Guyon will join us at our event to talk about her work. Prints will be on sale for $175. All proceeds from these prints, less only printing cost, will go directly to the Japan/Kentucky Relief Fund.
