Volunteers are  needed for the JAPAN FESTIVAL 

2019

We are seeking volunteers for this year's Japan Festival on September 21st in Downtown Lexington


 The Japan Festival would not be possible if not for our volunteers. 

 You are welcome to sign up for more then one spot.  You will receive a packet of information and times for training as we get closer to the event.  All volunteers will also receive a free "Volunteer" t-shirt and lunch.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED  INCLUDING:


General set-up

9:30 to 11:30 am. Seeking 10 volunteers. Duties include hanging signs and putting up tents, setting up info tables, assisting at performance stages, and assisting street fair vendors.

JASK Market / Information Tent  

Seeking 3 volunteers per shift. Duties will include handing out programs and other literature as well as directing people to Festival events Volunteers at this table will also assist in the sales of merchandise. 

10:30am to 7:00pm (broken into three shifts of 10:30am to 1:30pm, 1:30 to 4:30pm, and 4:30 to 7:00pm).

Japanese Games

Seeking 4 volunteers per shift. The JASK Games Booth is where people can learn to play Japanese games and experience Japanese culture. There are 3 games at the Game Booth – Wanage, Chopstick Game, and Yoyo.

10:30am to 7:00pm (broken into three shifts of 10:30am to 1:30pm, 1:30 to 4:30pm, and 4:30 to 7:00pm).

Kimono / Yukata Dress-Up Booth 

Seeking 4 volunteers per shift. At the kimono booth, attendees can try on kimono and yukata (free of charge) in which to get their picture taken and printed is $5. Your responsibility is to help attendees choose, as well as to take their picture. On the printer will be a set of instructions regarding how to print out their picture at the booth.

10:30am to 7:00pm (broken into three shifts of 10:30am to 1:30pm, 1:30 to 4:30pm, and 4:30 to 7:00pm).

Origami / Japanese Paper Crafts Booth  

Seeking 1 volunteer per shift. At the Origami / Japanese Paper Craft booth, attendees will learn traditional Japanese origami and Japanese paper craft from Japanese experts.  Duties include help attendees with their crafts and origami.

10:30am to 7:00pm (broken into three shifts of 10:30am to 1:30pm, 1:30 to 4:30pm, and 4:30 to 7:00pm).

Sumo Wrestling 

Seeking 2 volunteers per shift. Duties include helping participates with putting sumo suit on and off and run wrestling meet between participates.  Children and adults are welcome. 

10:30am to 7:00pm (broken into three shifts of 10:30am to 1:30pm, 1:30 to 4:30pm, and 4:30 to 7:00pm).

Japanese Calligraphy 

シフトごとに2人のボランティアを募集しています。ブースにる人の名前を日本語(漢字かカタカナ)で半紙に書いてください。

10:30am to 7:00pm (3シフトof 10:30am to 1:30pm, 1:30 to 4:30pm, and 4:30 to 7:00pm).

Ninja Warrior Course

Seeking 2 volunteers per shift. Duties include helping participates through the Ninja Warrior Obstacle Course.  Children and adults are welcome. 

10:30am to 7:00pm (broken into three shifts of 10:30am to 1:30pm, 1:30 to 4:30pm, and 4:30 to 7:00pm).
