Purchasing Coordinator - CMI Consulting

Our well-established manufacturing client in beautiful Lexington, Kentucky is seeking an organized and strategic Purchasing Coordinator. The Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for finding and purchasing products for the company to use or sell. They must locate suppliers, research goods, services, and materials, and process purchasing orders.

The person selected for this role will possess strong negotiation and critical thinking skills, be able to work independently or as part of a team, and provide strategic purchasing functions for all production and MRO related acquisition, including components, supplies, and services, while ordering and expediting materials, supplies, and services to maintain operational standards.

Specifically, the Purchasing Coordinator will be responsible for verifying purchases and interacting with suppliers to schedule delivery times and resolve shipping errors. Comply with all company Procedures, Policies, Work Instructions, and TS16949/EMS-14001 requirements. Developing and managing central RFQ and Blanket PO responsibilities and systems used to support production operation and ensure competitive pricing from suppliers through RFQs. Complete MRO functions including but not limited to, working with departments to prepare MRO purchase orders, organizing and managing all MRO procurement requirements, and entering and tracking MRO purchase orders as required to assure timely delivers. Actively seeking savings through supplier payment terms or pricing discounts. Assisting Sales and Engineering teams in research of new products and services. Meeting with existing and new suppliers on a regular basis to maintain productive relationships and explore new options.

Bachelor’s degree and 1+ years’ experience in a purchasing or accounting role OR High School Diploma/GED and 2+ years of demonstrated experience in a purchasing role required.  Knowledge of general office equipment and familiarity with Microsoft Office programs required.  Manufacturing experience highly preferred. Candidates should possess strong negotiation and critical thinking skills.

Client offers a salary range of $17 - $24/hr. based on experience and a comprehensive benefits package.
