CNC Machinist - CMI Consulting

Our well-established manufacturing client in beautiful Lexington, KY is seeking a highly skilled 1st shift CNC Machinist. The successful applicant will operate CNC equipment to produce forming tools and die components that support a cold heading and stamping operation. In addition, the ideal candidate will have experience operating a CNC lathe, CNC sinking EDM, and wire EDM machines while working within a tolerance of .0001”.

Specifically, the CNC Machinist will set-up and operate machine tools; produce tooling and components for metal working dies, cutting tools, jigs, and fixtures; and analyze and understand specifications and tolerances. Compute dimensions and plan layout, machining, and assembly operations. Layout metal stock; measure, mark, and scribe for machining. Verify conformance of machined components using various measurement and inspection devices including but not limited to micrometers, calipers, bore gages, indicators & comparator. Edit programs manually. Create or import CAD drawings in programming software and maintain directory programs. Work directly with toolmakers, engineers, and other plant personnel. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance routines to the machines and or related tooling. Maintain adequate inventory of all perishable supplies working with purchasing. Operate other tool room equipment as needed, including Manual lathes, mills, Grinders, and hand tools.

Successful candidates should possess a strong mechanical aptitude and demonstrate the ability to use hand and measuring tools in fitting and assembly operations, operate drill press, manual milling machine, lathe, grinders, and other mechanical equipment. The CNC Machinist will be required to read blueprints, demonstrate good problem-solving skills, and the ability to understand written and verbal instructions while communicating effectively with all levels of employees. An accredited vocational school education in CNC, including course work in shop math, physics, drafting, blueprint reading, and metalworking preferred, or equivalent of 2+ years’ experience in each of these areas.

Client offers a competitive salary of $24 - $28 per hour with a comprehensive benefits plan.
